 The Reading Circle? Introduction to what is political,

 It is an experimental fiction about the pleasure of collective rereading. It is inspired by Hannah Arendt's thinking, and of hosting
a Hannah Arendt Reading Circle at artist's home in Katajanokka, Helsinki in the autumn 2006. What does âpoliticalâ mean? How to define âwomanly
politicalâ? Is it possible to attain a revolutionism that transcends generations and redefine âpoliticalâ?

                                        	| Jaana Kokko is an artist living and working in Helsinki, Finland. In her artistic practice she
is interested not only in the exploration of the expressive and historical aspects of art, but finds it equally important to understand and be aware
of the fact that a finished piece of art and the act of displaying it publicly are political comments. The importance to understand our political
history is equally important: What is the political heritage of ours and where do we belong?
 At the OKK Jaana Kokko will show work in progress
a film called Social Sketches (Haven) 2014 installed in the gallery space. The experimental documentary film studies spaces as embodied politics. It
is filmed in Tallinn, Estonia in 2013-2014.
 
 Jaana Kokko has had solo exhibitions for example in Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2012); Pori Art
Museum Finland (2013); Optica â Center for Contemporary Art, MontrÃal, Canada (2010); and Anna Ahmatova Art Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia
(2007). From 2010 she is a PhD student at Art Department at Aalto University, University of Art, Design and Architecture in Helsinki.

  HOW TO SHOW? 
LAB FOR RESEARCH AND ART is a series of events, talks and exhibitions 
showcasing artistic research projects from Bauhaus-University Weimar, 
Aalto University, Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki and University of 
Ulster. The project is intended to foster the exchange of experiences 
between researchers and institutions and to present artistic research 
projects to a broader public. From February to April 2014 eleven 
doctoral candidates will work at different project spaces developing 
experimental formats to share and present their research in Berlin.
